What was the device designed for?

When the metal detector is disassembled, almost the whole device can be put into the small-sized transport case. However, the most massive search coil doesn’t feet into the case, so the manufacturer has foreseen a special case for it.
The device package set also includes a USB-cable to connect the control unit to a PC. Updating the hardware allows to improve the metal detector characteristics due to using more efficient software without going to a specialized service center.
In terms of not that essential but helpful functions, we can name the following.
The metal detector has a vibration mode that will be useful for hearing-impaired users or in case of working in some noisy areas. Vibro-response in a convenient thing when you can’t put on headphones, but you can’t make much noise as well. Invenio enables using five vibration levels.
Traditionally Makro Nokta has a bright flashlight to light up the search area. The LED flashlight is located behind the device handle.
The control unit display has several levels of backlit, as well as its buttons.
The shaft
The shaft is straight, and it resembles the one that the company uses for Nokta Impact. However, now the shaft also has an IPTU unit (Integrated Positional Tracking Unit) attached to it, which is used to probe objects located under the ground.
IPTU sensor allows detecting end edges, width, and length of the area being scanned as well as the depth, shape, and size of the target. Artificial intelligence guarantees prompt definition of the target parameters due to self-adaptive algorithms.
You should calibrate the sensor, but isn’t a challenging task. All you need is to put the coil on the ground and push the button on the control unit. However, you can switch off this sensor via the control unit.
The device handle is also straight with just four buttons on it, since the control is mainly performed using the control unit that is carried separately.
From the backside of the handle, there is a trigger used to adjust the metal detector. If you push it, you can adjust the ground balance; if you pull it – you can reset the device settings.
The battery accumulator holder is under the armrest. There are buttons to turn on the metal detector and to adjust the volume on it.
Pay attention to the metal detector weight. System Box weighs 1.7 kg (with 5500 mAh battery), Shaft and Handle – 2.4 kg.
The coil
Standard device package set includes the following: DD Coil INV28 (28×18 cm/11″x7″) and DD INV40 (40×35 cm/15.5″x14″). In Pro package set DD INV56 (56×49 cm/22″x19″) coil was added.
The device from the standard package set has only one operating frequency – 14 kHz, while in the case of Pro set, there are three operating frequencies: 5, 14, and 20 kHz. Keep in mind that these frequencies work not simultaneously, but sequentially. However, the frequency shift is available if something around interferes with the device operation.
Headphones
The device package set includes wired Koss headphones. Besides, the metal detector offers wireless connection at 2,4 GHz for optional wireless headphones, which you should get on your own.
The battery
The metal detector uses the Li-Ion battery accumulator as a power supply. In the Pro package set, an extra battery accumulator is included.
Waterproofness
The device is a ground search metal detector, and it shouldn’t be submerged. However, all the search coils are waterproof.
The control unit
Since the metal detector is expensive and it is sold in many countries, its menu has many languages – European ones, English, Spanish, Chinese. All in all there are 17 languages available.
The control unit is external, with a large high-resolution LCD and a keyboard that makes it look like a notebook.
To lessen the number of loose wires, the connection between the control unit, which the user usually carries on his chest, and the metal detector with a coil is performed using a wireless connection.
Bluetooth is more likely to be used for the headphones because it’s better to use WiFi to get a quick and stable connection, which is actually performed in the device design.
When moving the search coil, the user not only studies how deep the device can detect at these ground conditions but simultaneously in the real-time it creates a 3D model of the area being studied and displays all hidden cavities and anomalies, metal objects and defines their depth, shape and the metal conductivity.
In the display, the user can see the object shape, length, mineralization, ground balance, target depth, discrimination from 0 to 99.
The discrimination scale is a visual one. Its color varies from grey (ground) to red (ferrous metals) and green (non-ferrous metals).
Search modes
This multi-purpose metal detector has several search modes, due to which you can detect coins, cavities in the ground, treasures, stashes, and various relics.
Because of the device’s high performance and ability to demonstrate sufficient detection depth, Nokta Invenio can find treasures where other metal detectors won’t see them.
The device works both in static mode – 3 modes and in dynamic mode – 3 modes. In static mode, you should move the coil very slowly, while in dynamical, the device functions the same as other metal detectors.
Static search modes are aimed at building of 3D map of the search area. Dynamical search modes are needed when the device operates as a usual metal detector without building the map.
The static mode has thee programs:
- Basic.
- Expert.
- Ground Anomaly & Cavity.
The basic program doesn’t have many functions — just sensitivity and ground balance.
The expert program additionally has the following:
- threshold;
- audio amplification;
- discrimination;
- stabilizer;
- audio tone.

There are no additional settings for Ground Anomaly & Cavity mode.
Dynamic mode also has three programs:
- All Metal.
- Fast.
- Deep.
The following settings are added to the programs in dynamic mode:
- iMask;
- selective discrimination;
- audio tone change;
- tracking.
Ground balance
Ground balance values are displayed on the screen. You can adjust the function automatically, manually and there is also a tracking mode to follow the ground balance change.
Discrimination
If the metal detector can detect the object mass and shape, so there won’t be any issues with defining its conductivity and metal type because the device can use different operating frequencies as well.
Conclusions
Nokta Makro Invenio is not a metal detector for everyone. This is a smart device for experienced diggers, various services agencies, etc. However, there are some enthusiastic detectorists, which have successful experience of using this device.
This metal detector will give you more than any other modern metal detector. You’ll have to pay the price, though. First of all, it will cost you money.
